Southward

The Sydney cryptic’s growing stale
Although for some the harbour’s briskly
Kissed to ripples by the sun.
Escape to airport, says the script —

The Yarra’s brown, the Bay is blue.
High on nineteenth century names,
Imperial with stiffened collars,
Sophistication shapes the weather

Or seems to up the Paris end.
Nor should price deter you, now that
Erskineville’s forsworn forever.

Google up your start in Carlton,
Imagining the crema. Your plane
Glides in, a seraph’s feather.
