Alec Finlay

Two poems

Night For Day

Light after dark
dims the day.

Know your track how to
find your way in the dark.

Wind through branches
becomes the silences.

In every path there
is a fork.

Day For Night

We mark the trees
with two flashes.

A cure for sap
finger the dirt.

In the middle of the wood
is a lake of leaves.

Shh! the mice are
hiding their tails.
